| Our primary focus with our machine quilting is custom quilting design -
designs geared to enhance the uniqueness of your particular quilt. For instance:
stippling in open spaces, templates customized for particular blocks based on
the pattern and size of the blocks (similar to what you'd do for hand quilting),
freehand feathers in stirps or borders, freehand leaves, flowers, stars, or designs
we make up for the quilt (balloons, animals, whatever you want). We also do some "border-to-border" patterns, particularly some interlocking versions, but not a lot. We don't think repeating, border-to-border, "pantograph" quilting enhances your work, and for us as designers, it's not as much fun to do. Obviously we offer a variety of unique machine quilting services. If you don't see what your looking for contact us and I'm sure we'll find a solution that works for you and your quilt. |

We charge $0.015 per square inch. To calculate the charge for your quilt use the following formula: (in inches) length x width x 0.015 = Total |
Binding size is figured by the formula: (in inches) length + width x 2 = Binding Size. Continuous Binding*: $7.50 smaller than twin size $10.00 twin to full size $12.50 queen to king size *A note on continuous binding. There are two types, bias or on-grain. Bias binding wears better for quilts that will be used on beds regularly. On-grain binding is a little faster to make and attach and costs a little less. * Machine attach binding one side: $0.07/inch * Machine attach binding both sides: $0.20/inch * Serging outer edges of quilt: $0.05/inch** **A note about serging outer edges. It is very useful if borders/outside edge is wavy and requires easing back in by hand. This process makes it much easier to apply your binding. |
Formula for basting: (in inches) Length x Width x $0.005 (in other words, a half cent per square inch) Basting is a great service, especially for hand quilters. It is not easy to find the space adn time to adequately baste a quilt, even if pin basting. The modern long arm quilting machine is uniquely well suited for this function. In our service we baste rows between 3" and 4" apart down the length of the quilt or project. Besides being easier and faster, the machine basted quilt is actually more stable than many other methods (such as pin basting) because we consistently stabilize the quilt with the basting with no chance of lapses or folds. |
